I've always taken pride that at YYC Crafts I use high quality card stock made from recycled paper that's sourced locally here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to make my handmade greeting cards. It's important to me that all of my greeting cards and stickers are recyclable but there is always this voice telling me that I can do more to help people, not just with the joy and memories that I'm helping them to create but also help the environment and to be more sustainable while doing it. This is how my search began of a more eco-friendly and sustainable way to create greeting cards.
keeping it local
Being a small business it's important to me to first support locally here within my city, and then I look within the country that I live in. I was so excited to come across Botanical Paperworks. A woman owned Canadian business like YYC Crafts and for me that was important.
Also I wanted to know that the plants that will be grown weren't going to be invasive (non-native or harmful) to our ecosystem and I wanted to make sure that this seeded paper was actually going to grow something. The more research I did on this company the more impressed I was and knew that I had to support them.
They are located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. All of their paper is biodegradable eco-paper that has been used and comes from local schools and businesses. When the paper is planted the seeds grow and the paper composts away.

what you'll grow
Their seed paper has been tested for quality and sustainability before making it accessible to the world and have won many awards for their paper.
Black-Eyed Susan, Bird's Eye, Clarkia, Catchfly, Sweet Alyssum and Snapdragons are the variety of wildflowers that you'll get from planting my greeting cards. For a view of each seed type please visit Bontanical Paperworks.
how you can help
By gifting a plantable handmade card from YYC Crafts you're not just giving a card, you are giving a gift that will last. Behind ever card is love. It's love that goes into creating the card and it's the love that you feel when you are sending the card. All of this love now gets to be planted into the ground and will grow into beautiful wildflowers to enjoy each day, you're also giving the gift of creating a habitat for the important pollinators that help our ecosystem thrive.
